The most common questions we are asked by passengers are – “Where is Doolin pier?” and “Is there parking?” So this blog will help you find your way and pay your way!
Where is Doolin Pier?
Doolin village is quite spread out, and can be confusing for first-time visitors. There are 4 definite clusters – Roadford, Fitz Cross, Fisherstreet and Doolin Pier. These clusters stretch approximately 4 kms along R459.
The shop and petrol station are at the top of the main road into Doolin R479, you turn left at the junction when traveling from the Cliffs of Moher or turn right when traveling from Lisdoonvarna.

Follow the R479 from the petrol station down to the bottom of the hill and Fitz Cross, where you will see Fitz’s Pub on the right (part of Hotel Doolin). If you did not pre-book your boat trip, stop in to the Doolin Tourist Information Centre at Hotel Doolin to get your boarding tickets. If you already have your tickets, then turn left here at the crossroads. |

| Continue along the R459 until you reach the bridge into Fishersheet, veer right, follow the road (passing O’Connors Pub) for approx 2km and you will arrive at Doolin Pier. |

Where can you park?
There is a large car park right at Doolin pier suitable for many types of motorists including cars, vans, camper vans, coaches, and mini buses.
There is a secondary car park next to the public toilets and Nagles Campsite. Clare County Council have introduce paid parking charges. These charges apply to both car parks and anywhere along the road between the two car parks.
How much will you have to pay?
Parking charges are as follows:
- €1 for up to 2 hours
- €5 for 2-30 hours
- €15 for parking up to one week.
Parking is free for vehicles with the capacity to carry more than 7 passengers.
Please remember to bring change!
One of the newly installed pay and display machines accepts all major credit cards, as well as Debit and Laser Cards. The dual machine also accepts coins. Once you have paid you will be issued a ticket, you then place this ticket on your car dashboard in full visibility.
