Combination trip from Galway city to Doolin by bus and boat.
The boat trip for the Cliffs of Moher and Inis Oirr in one day remains one of our most popular daytrips. Over the years, many customers who are travelling without their own car have asked if it is possible to take this trip from Galway by bus. Well, now it is!
We have joined forces with a new bus company based in Galway so now our passengers can easily reach us from their Galway base without having to take a car. This ticket from Galway to the Cliffs of Moher and Aran Islands combines the bus and boat trip in one.
The bus will collect you from one of 8 designated pick-ups points in Galway city, leaving Galway at 8.30am.
Explore the Burren
En route to Doolin, you will drive through the amazing landscape of the Burren, with its unique limestone plateau.
The word Burren comes from the Irish: Boireann, which means “a rocky place”). This is a karst landscape in County Clare, Ireland. It measures approximately 250 square kilometres and is enclosed roughly within the circle made by the villages of Ballyvaughan, Kinvara, Tubber, Corofin, Kilfenora and Lisdoonvarna, finishing at Doolin below the Cliffs of Moher.
Ferry to the Aran Islands
In Doolin, you will take your boat to Inis Oirr, the closest of the three Aran Islands to the mainland. Here you can explore this gorgeous island, meet the islanders and learn about their ancient Irish culture and traditions.
See the stone-age fort at Dun Formna, with a 14th century castle built in the centre. Visit the wreck of the Plassy, a cargo ship that ran aground in the 1960s. Or just lie on the beautiful beach and watch the world go by!
There are some great options for lunch in the Inis Oirr cafes, pubs and hotel where freshly caught seafood is always on the menu.
Cliffs of Moher Cruise
After lunch, you will depart for your Cliffs of Moher Cruise on the way back to Doolin. This is a specatacular journey past these iconic cliffs, offering a completely unique perspective.
You will get to see the sea cave made famous by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (learn more about movies made at the cliff here).
There are approx. 40,000 seabirds that nest among the rock shelves at the Cliffs of Moher – watch out for the Puffins.
To complete your day, you will then be taken to the top of the cliffs and you can look down from there to where you had been on your boat!
The centre has fantastic facilities – shopping, dining and information on the area. Meet the rangers and learn all about the fascinating geology and wildlife in the area.
Your bus will bring you back to your accommodation in Galway after your amazing day – imagine all of that on one ticket from Galway to the Cliffs of Moher and Aran Islands and back!
What’s keeping you 😉
