  • Inis Meáin (translates as “Middle Island”) between Inis Mór and Inis Oírr
  • Size: 4km by 2.5km; Population: 200 approx

Inis Meain is the middle island, and the least visited of the three islands. It has its own quiet beauty where visitors can appreciate the unspoiled tranquillity and escape from the stresses and noise of modern living. Attractions that can be found here include- Stone Forts (Dún Chonchúir and Dún Fearbhaí), Inis Meáin Knitwear factory, Eaglais Naomh Muire gan Smál, Leaba Dhiarmaid agus Ghráinne, also the cottage where the famous playwright John M. Synge lived every summer from 1898 to 1902.
